CNC Machined Vinyl Turntable Spindles and Platter Parts

These are precision CNC machined parts for vinyl turntables, including spindles, bearing housings, aluminum platters, tonearm bases, counterweights, motor pulleys and copper or brass fittings. They are turned and milled with critical diameters held to about ±0.01 mm. They are made for turntable manufacturers and hi-fi upgrade brands that need low-runout rotating parts and well-finished cosmetic components.

How we make this part

Process, material options and inspection for cnc machined vinyl turntable spindles and platter parts.

Turntable parts rotate slowly but must do so very smoothly. Platters are turned from thick aluminum plate in several passes, with stress relief between roughing and finishing so they remain flat. Spindles and bearing housings are finished in one setup to keep concentricity, and motor pulleys are turned to precise diameters because pulley size directly sets playback speed.

Aluminum platters are light and easy to machine; adding brass or copper mass rings increases inertia for steadier speed. Brass spindles and bearing housings machine well and wear smoothly against hardened steel balls. Copper fittings and accents add a premium look. Finishes include anodizing, polishing, brushing and electroplating; bearing surfaces are left machined or polished.

Platter runout, spindle diameter and pulley diameter are measured, as these determine wow and flutter and speed accuracy. Critical dimensions are inspected on every part, with CMM reports available, and cosmetic surfaces are checked under consistent light before packing. Typical parts include platters, inner platters, spindles, main bearing housings, motor pulleys, tonearm bases and counterweights.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How accurate does a turntable motor pulley need to be?

Very accurate, because the pulley diameter directly sets platter speed. A small diameter error changes the playback speed by the same proportion. We hold critical pulley diameters to about ±0.01 mm and measure each batch to confirm.

Why add a brass ring to an aluminum platter?

Brass is roughly three times denser than aluminum, so a brass ring at the outer edge raises the platter's moment of inertia. More inertia smooths out small speed variations from the motor and belt, which can reduce audible wow and flutter.

How do I get a quote for cnc machined vinyl turntable spindles and platter parts?

Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
