These are 5-axis CNC milled aluminum housings, heat sinks and covers used in renewable energy equipment such as solar inverters, wind turbine sensors, battery management units and hydrogen system controls. We machine them from 6061-T6 plate or billet, with stainless and brass inserts where needed. They are made for engineering teams that need sealed, thermally efficient enclosures in low volumes.

- Side ports and fins machined without re-fixturing
- 6061-T6 for thermal conductivity and light weight
- Masked thermal pads with anodized or coated body
- Flatness of sealing faces measured before shipment

## How we make it
Housings for power electronics need flat sealing faces, internal bosses for PCBs and cooling fins on the outside. On 5-axis machines we reach side ports, angled connectors and fin profiles without re-fixturing, which keeps wall thickness and boss positions consistent. Deep pockets are roughed with high-efficiency toolpaths, then finished in light passes to avoid distortion of thin walls.

6061-T6 aluminum conducts heat well, about 150–170 W/m·K, and machines quickly, which makes it the common choice. For better corrosion resistance in marine or offshore wind installations, a sealed hard anodize or powder coat is applied. Brass or stainless threaded inserts improve thread life where covers are opened for service. Thermal-interface areas are often masked so they stay bare.

Flatness of sealing and thermal-contact faces is measured, as are O-ring groove dimensions and connector-port positions. Threads are verified with gauges, and dimensional reports are available for each batch, along with material certificates on request. Typical applications include solar inverter covers, wind turbine pitch-control housings, BMS enclosures, electrolyzer control boxes and outdoor sensor housings.

## FAQ
### Can you leave bare areas on an anodized housing for thermal contact?
Yes. We mask thermal pads, grounding points or electrical contact areas before anodizing so they stay bare aluminum. Mark these areas on the drawing, and we confirm masking boundaries on the first article, since anodize is an electrical insulator and adds thermal resistance.

### How thin can the walls of a machined housing be?
For 6061-T6 housings, walls around 1.0–1.5 mm are practical over moderate heights, depending on pocket depth and part size. Thinner walls are possible but may need special fixturing and slower finishing passes. We review wall sections during quoting and suggest changes if distortion is a risk.

### How do I get a quote for 5-axis cnc milled aluminum renewable energy housings?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
