These are pivot pins, axles, clevis pins, dowel-style locating pins and wheel shafts turned on CNC lathes from aluminum alloy, carbon steel or stainless steel. Retaining-ring grooves, threads, cross holes and chamfers are cut to drawing, with diameters held to ±0.05 mm or tighter. They suit equipment, cart, furniture and machinery builders needing pins in non-standard lengths or diameters.

- Standard retaining-ring grooves cut with form tools
- Induction-hardened steel for wear
- Anodized, zinc-plated or black-oxide finishes
- Hardness tested when heat treatment is specified

## How we make it
Pins are cut from precision-ground or drawn bar on lathes with bar feeders, so long runs proceed with consistent diameters. Retaining-ring grooves are cut with form tools to standard widths and depths, and cross holes for cotter or R-clips are drilled with live tooling. Ends are chamfered or radiused for easy insertion. For tight bearing fits, diameters can be finish-ground after turning.

Aluminum alloy pins are light and corrosion-resistant once anodized, suitable for light-duty pivots and consumer products. Carbon steel such as 1045 is stronger and can be induction hardened for wear, then zinc plated or black oxided. 4140 alloy steel handles high shear loads. Stainless 304 resists rust outdoors. Choosing the right material depends on shear load, wear and environment.

Diameters are checked with micrometers and ring gauges, groove dimensions with gauges, and lengths with height gauges. Critical dimensions are 100% inspected, and hardness is tested when heat treatment is specified. Typical uses include hinge and pivot pins, wheel axles, linkage pins, roller shafts, clevis pins and locating pins for fixtures.

## FAQ
### Aluminum or steel for a pivot pin?
Aluminum pins suit light loads and products where weight and corrosion resistance matter. For pins carrying significant shear, wear or impact, carbon or alloy steel, ideally hardened, is much stronger and lasts longer. Stainless is a good compromise for outdoor, moderate-load pivots.

### Can you add retaining-ring grooves to standard sizes?
Yes. We cut grooves to match standard external retaining rings, such as DIN 471 or common inch series, with correct width, depth and edge condition. Specify the ring standard or groove dimensions on your drawing.

### How do I get a quote for cnc turned aluminum alloy and steel pins and axles?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
