# CNC Turned Stainless Steel Rapid Prototype Parts

Category: Precision CNC Machined Parts
URL: https://www.machined-parts-factory.com/products/precision-cnc-machined-parts/cnc-turned-stainless-steel-rapid-prototype-parts/

This service produces rapid prototype parts in stainless steel by CNC turning, with secondary milling, drilling and cutting as needed. Typical parts are shafts, pins, bushings, nozzles and fittings for new-energy and industrial equipment. Orders start at one piece, and prototypes usually ship in about 3–7 working days, which suits engineers validating a design before production.

- Orders from one piece, typical 3–7 day prototypes
- 303, 304 and 316 stainless from bar stock
- Design feedback on features that add lead time
- Measurement report even for single parts

## How we make it
Speed in prototyping comes from simple fixturing and good planning, not from cutting corners on measurement. We review the drawing, flag features that would add time (deep small holes, very thin walls, tight undercuts), and suggest alternatives where they do not affect function. Most stainless prototypes are turned from bar stock, then moved to a mill for flats, cross holes or slots.

303 stainless contains sulfur that makes it the easiest grade to machine and the fastest for prototypes, but it is less corrosion resistant and not ideal for welding. 304 is the general-purpose grade, and 316 adds resistance to chlorides. Prototype finishes include as-machined, bead blasted, passivated or painted surfaces; we often recommend testing in the same finish planned for production.

Even single prototypes receive a dimensional check of critical features, and a measurement report is available. If the prototype is a pre-production sample, we can run a full first-article inspection to the production drawing. Common uses include battery-system fittings, coolant nozzles, sensor housings, test fixture pins and replacement parts for industrial equipment.

## FAQ
### Which stainless steel is fastest to machine for prototypes?
303 stainless is the fastest because its added sulfur breaks chips cleanly. If your production part will be 304 or 316, we can still prototype in 303 for a fit check, but for corrosion or weld testing the prototype should be made in the production grade.

### Will prototype parts match the later production parts?
They will if made from the same material, finish and drawing revision. Production may use different fixtures or cycle optimizations, but critical dimensions stay within the same tolerances. We record the prototype process so production can be set up to repeat the validated result.

### How do I get a quote for cnc turned stainless steel rapid prototype parts?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
