# Laser Cut and CNC Bent Aluminum Sheet Metal Brackets

Category: Precision CNC Machined Parts

These are formed sheet metal brackets and covers produced by laser cutting followed by CNC press-brake bending. Aluminum and stainless steel are the main materials, with press-fit hardware, welding and finishing added as required. They suit automotive, electronics and equipment builders who need brackets, chassis and covers that would be too heavy or costly to machine from solid plate.

- Flat patterns with correct bend allowance
- CNC press-brake bending in controlled sequence
- Press-fit nuts, studs and standoffs installed
- 5052 aluminum and 304 stainless sheet

## How we make it
Flat patterns are developed from the 3D model using the correct bend allowance for each material and thickness, then laser cut. A CNC press brake forms the bends in sequence, with back gauges positioning each flange. Bend relief cuts prevent tearing at corners. Press-fit nuts, studs and standoffs are installed after bending, and corners can be welded and ground.

5052-H32 aluminum is the standard for bent parts because it forms without cracking; 6061-T6 can crack at tight radii unless the bend radius is increased. 304 stainless gives a stronger, corrosion-resistant bracket. Inside bend radius is usually at least one material thickness. Finishes include anodizing, powder coating, brushing and silk-screen or laser marking for panels.

Bend angles, flange lengths and hole positions are checked with protractors, height gauges and fixtures at first article and through the run. Critical dimensions are verified before shipping. Common parts include mounting brackets, electrical chassis, battery covers, sensor shields, enclosure panels and L- or U-shaped supports for vehicles and machines.

## FAQ
### Why does my aluminum bracket crack when bent?
Usually because the alloy is 6061-T6 with a tight bend radius. T6 temper has limited ductility. Switching to 5052-H32, increasing the inside radius to two or more times the thickness, or bending across the rolling grain reduces cracking. We review bend radii and alloy choice before cutting.

### Is sheet metal cheaper than machining for brackets?
For thin brackets with simple bends, yes, often much cheaper, because material waste and machine time are low. Machining becomes better value when the part needs varying thickness, precise bores, pockets or very tight tolerances. We can quote both routes when the design allows either.

### How do I get a quote for laser cut and cnc bent aluminum sheet metal brackets?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
