Anodized Aluminum Shock Absorber Adjuster Nuts, Broached
These are shock absorber adjuster nuts, spring preload collars and lock rings, CNC turned from aluminum or stainless steel. Internal threads are cut to match the shock body, and spanner slots or splines are broached or milled. Most are color anodized with a laser-marked logo. They are made for suspension brands and aftermarket shops that need custom coilover hardware.

Manufacturing
How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for anodized aluminum shock absorber adjuster nuts, broached.
Adjuster nuts are turned from bar or thick-wall tube, with the internal thread single-point cut so the pitch matches the shock body exactly. Spanner notches are milled, and internal keyways or hex profiles are broached. Lock rings can include a radial clamp slot and tapped hole for a pinch bolt. Edges are chamfered so the anodize does not chip on sharp corners.
6061-T6 aluminum takes bright, even colors such as red, blue, gold or black with Type II anodizing; 7075-T6 is stronger but anodized colors are slightly less uniform. Hard anodizing improves thread wear when nuts are adjusted often. Stainless steel nuts suit harsh environments but should be used with anti-seize on aluminum bodies. Brass and copper are options for decorative or galling-resistant collars.
Threads are checked with gauges and a mating sample body, and every nut is inspected for thread fit and slot position before packing. Color consistency across batches is controlled by anodizing in matched loads. Uses include coilover spring perches, motorcycle shock preload rings, mountain bike shock collars and RC suspension parts. ISO 9001 procedures apply throughout.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Will anodizing affect the thread fit of an aluminum adjuster nut?
Yes, slightly. Type II anodizing builds roughly half its thickness outward, so internal threads tighten a little. Type III hard anodize grows more. We compensate by cutting the thread slightly oversize before anodizing or masking the thread, depending on the requirement. Tell us whether the thread must be anodized or can stay bare.
Can you match anodized colors across different orders?
We control color by using the same alloy, dye and process settings and by keeping reference samples. Some variation between batches is normal with dyed anodizing, especially for reds and golds. For parts assembled side by side, ordering them in one batch, or from the same alloy lot, gives the closest match.
How do I get a quote for anodized aluminum shock absorber adjuster nuts, broached?
