CNC Milled Stainless Steel Square Blocks and Spacers

These are square and rectangular stainless steel parts such as blocks, spacers, mounting pads and clamp bodies. They are milled square on all six faces, then drilled, tapped and pocketed to the drawing. They are made for automotive, machinery and fixture builders who need stainless parts with flat, parallel faces and accurate hole patterns rather than sawn bar.

How we make this part

Process, material options and inspection for cnc milled stainless steel square blocks and spacers.

Sawn blanks are faced on all sides on a 3-axis mill, alternating faces to relieve stress and keep the block square. Flatness and parallelism are controlled by light finishing passes and by using a precision vise or fixture plate. Holes are drilled and tapped from a common datum; counterbores and slots are milled in the same setup to keep positions consistent.

304 stainless is typical for general use; 316 for wet or chemical environments; 303 where many tapped holes make machinability more important than corrosion resistance. Bead blasting gives a uniform matte look that hides handling marks; brushing gives a directional satin finish; passivation is recommended after machining. Large blocks can be stress relieved before final machining if flatness is critical.

Flatness, squareness and hole positions are checked with height gauges, squares and CMM as needed. Threads are verified with go/no-go gauges. Critical dimensions are inspected on each lot before shipping. Uses include suspension spacers, sensor mounting blocks, clamp bodies, machine leveling pads and fixture blocks used in automated production and assembly lines.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How flat can you mill a stainless steel block?

For blocks of typical size, flatness of about 0.02–0.05 mm over the face is routine with careful finishing. Tighter flatness is possible on smaller faces or with surface grinding. Stainless can release internal stress during machining, so for long or thin blocks we may recommend stress relieving between roughing and finishing.

Can you add threaded holes on several faces?

Yes. Blocks often have tapped holes, counterbores and slots on three or more faces. We plan the setups so all features reference the same datum, keeping hole positions consistent between faces. For many faces, a 4-axis or 5-axis setup reduces handling and is quoted when it lowers cost.

How do I get a quote for cnc milled stainless steel square blocks and spacers?

Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
