CNC Milling Parts

Sandblasted and PVD Coated CNC Machined Metal Parts

These are custom CNC machined parts in stainless steel, brass or aluminum finished with decorative and functional coatings, including PVD in gold, rose gold, black and gunmetal tones. Machining tolerances of 0.01–0.05 mm are held before coating. They are for consumer product, hardware and appliance brands that need precise metal parts with a durable premium surface.

Manufacturing

How we make this part

Process, material options and inspection for sandblasted and pvd coated cnc machined metal parts.

Good PVD starts with good machining, because the coating is only a few microns thick and shows every tool mark. We plan finishing passes for a consistent surface, then sandblast for a satin look or polish for a mirror base. Edges are broken evenly so the coating has no thin spots. Parts are cleaned thoroughly before coating, since any oil residue leads to poor adhesion.

PVD (physical vapor deposition) produces a hard, thin film that resists scratching and fading better than electroplating; stainless steel is the ideal substrate. Brass can be PVD coated after a nickel underlayer. Aluminum is usually anodized instead, as PVD on aluminum requires extra preparation. Sandblasting gives a matte, fingerprint-resistant base, while polishing gives a reflective finish that shows scratches more easily.

After coating, parts are checked for color consistency against an approved sample, adhesion and coverage on all visible faces. Dimensional checks cover critical features, because coating thickness is small but measurable on tight fits. Each part receives 100% visual inspection before packing in protective sleeves. Typical uses include watch parts, faucet trim, knobs, jewelry hardware, pen bodies and furniture fittings.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How durable is PVD coating compared with plating?

PVD films are much harder than typical decorative electroplating, so they resist scratches, abrasion and color fading better. They are thin, often under a few microns, so they do not hide deep scratches in the base metal. A well-prepared stainless substrate gives the best long-term result.

Can aluminum parts be PVD coated?

It is possible but less common, because aluminum needs special preparation and lower process temperatures. For aluminum we usually recommend anodizing, which gives similar colors and good durability at lower cost. If PVD on aluminum is required, we can discuss options for your part.

How do I get a quote for sandblasted and pvd coated cnc machined metal parts?

Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
