CNC Machined 7075-T6 Aluminum Rims for RC Model Cars
These are precision rims for radio-controlled (RC) model cars, CNC turned and milled from 7075-T6 aluminum. The bead seat, hex hub mount and spoke pattern are machined to drawing, then the wheels are anodized in custom colors. They are designed for RC hobby brands, racing teams and upgrade-parts sellers needing light, rigid wheels in small or medium batches.

How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for cnc machined 7075-t6 aluminum rims for rc model cars.
Each rim starts on a CNC lathe, where the barrel, bead seats and hub bore are turned in one chucking so the wheel runs true. The spoke pattern, lightening pockets and hex drive are then milled with the part located on the turned bore. Small-diameter end mills are used for tight spoke radii, and burrs are removed before anodizing so edges stay crisp.
7075-T6 is selected for its high strength, so spokes can be thin without bending on impact. 6061-T6 is cheaper and more forgiving for crawler or display wheels. Type II anodizing adds color and some protection, while Type III hard anodizing better resists abrasion where tires are mounted and removed often. Polished or brushed lips under clear anodize are popular for scale models.
Runout of the bead seat relative to the hub bore and the size of the hex drive are measured because they decide how smoothly the wheel runs and how well it locks onto the axle. Critical features are checked on every part before shipment. Typical uses include 1/10 and 1/8 scale touring and drift cars, rock crawlers, and scale display models.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Why use 7075 instead of 6061 for RC wheels?
7075-T6 has a much higher yield strength than 6061-T6, roughly 500 versus 275 MPa, so spokes can be thinner and lighter yet survive crashes. 6061 is easier to anodize evenly and costs less, which makes it a good choice for crawler wheels or display models where impacts are mild.
Can you machine rims for a hex size not on standard lists?
Yes. Rims are machined to your drawing, so any hex size, offset or bolt pattern can be produced. Send the axle hex dimensions and desired fit, and we will confirm the tolerance band for the hex drive before cutting the first article.
How do I get a quote for cnc machined 7075-t6 aluminum rims for rc model cars?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
