CNC Machined ABS, Steel and Aluminum Prototype Parts
This is a mixed-material prototyping service that CNC mills and turns parts in ABS plastic, carbon steel, cast iron and aluminum alloy, along with brass, copper and stainless steel. It lets product teams build complete prototype assemblies, with plastic covers, metal frames and steel shafts, from one supplier. It suits developers of appliances, machinery and consumer products.

Manufacturing
How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for cnc machined abs, steel and aluminum prototype parts.
Prototype assemblies are planned as a set so mating parts are machined to compatible tolerances and shipped together. ABS covers and housings are milled from block with thin walls supported during cutting. Steel and iron parts are machined on rigid centers with suitable tooling, and aluminum is cut at high speed. We flag features that will change when the part moves to injection molding or casting.
ABS machines easily, can be painted or textured, and approximates molded ABS for appearance models. Carbon steel 1045 and Q235 provide strength for shafts and frames; cast iron offers vibration damping for machine bases. Aluminum alloy prototypes are light and quick to produce. Finishes include painting, plating, black oxide and anodizing to mimic production looks.
Each part is inspected against its drawing, and assemblies are trial-fitted before shipping where practical. Critical dimensions are 100% inspected. Typical uses include appliance prototypes, machinery mock-ups, consumer product models and pilot builds before tooling is ordered. Dimensional reports are available on request to support design reviews, and prototypes typically ship in about 3–7 working days depending on material and finish.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can a machined ABS prototype represent a molded part?
For fit, form and appearance, yes: machined ABS closely matches molded ABS and can be painted or textured. Mechanical behavior differs somewhat because molded parts have flow lines, thinner walls and residual stress. For strength testing of the final design, molded samples are more representative.
Can you machine cast iron prototypes?
Yes. We machine gray and ductile cast iron from blanks or castings for bases, housings and brackets. Cast iron gives good vibration damping and wear resistance. Machining produces fine dust, so we handle it on dedicated setups with proper extraction.
How do I get a quote for cnc machined abs, steel and aluminum prototype parts?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
