CNC Machined Stainless Steel Suspension Bolts & Connectors
These are custom stainless steel bolts and connectors for automotive suspension systems, including shoulder bolts, eye bolts, pivot pins, threaded studs and linkage connectors. They are CNC turned and milled from 304, 316 or 17-4PH stainless steel, with alloy steel options for high-load joints. They are made for suspension tuners and chassis engineers who need non-standard fasteners.

How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for cnc machined stainless steel suspension bolts & connectors.
Suspension fasteners often need a precise shoulder diameter for a bushing, a thread length that clears a nut, and a hex or Torx drive. We turn the shank and shoulder on CNC lathes, cut threads by single-point turning or roll them for better fatigue strength, and mill hex heads, flats or cross holes in a second operation. Edges are chamfered to protect bushings during assembly.
304 and 316 stainless resist road salt but are not as strong as heat-treated alloy fasteners; standard stainless bolts are roughly comparable to property class 8.8 at best. For highly loaded control-arm bolts, 17-4PH in the H900–H1150 condition or 4140 alloy steel with zinc plating is safer. Passivation removes surface iron to keep stainless parts from tea-staining.
Shoulder diameters and thread fits are checked with micrometers and thread gauges, and runout is checked on pivot pins. Every critical dimension is inspected before shipment, and material certificates are available on request. Typical uses include sway bar end links, control arm pivot bolts, coilover mounts, shock eye bolts and custom chassis brackets.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is stainless steel strong enough for suspension bolts?
Standard 304 or 316 stainless works for lightly loaded links and brackets but is weaker than heat-treated alloy bolts. For control arm or shock mount bolts carrying high loads, choose 17-4PH heat treated or 4140 alloy steel. Share the load or the original bolt grade and we will match it.
Are rolled threads better than cut threads?
For fasteners under cyclic load, yes. Thread rolling forms the threads without cutting the grain, which leaves compressive stresses at the root and improves fatigue life. Cut threads are fine for prototypes or low-load parts and are more flexible for unusual thread forms.
