CNC Milled and Turned Automotive Metal and Plastic Parts
This service CNC mills and turns automotive parts in metals and engineering plastics: sensor housings, brackets, bushings, copper terminals, valve components and plastic spacers. Materials include stainless steel, carbon steel, copper, aluminum, titanium and plastics such as POM and PA66. It is intended for automotive engineers and tier suppliers needing precise prototypes and pilot-batch parts before tooling is released.

How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for cnc milled and turned automotive metal and plastic parts.
Automotive projects often need many different parts quickly, from metal and plastic. We route each part to the most efficient machine: lathes for bushings and terminals, mills for brackets and housings, turn-mill for parts with both. Plastic parts are cut with sharp, polished tools and lower clamping force to avoid distortion, while metal parts follow standard fixturing and coolant strategies.
Aluminum 6061-T6 suits brackets and housings; stainless steel 304 handles exposed hardware; copper C11000 serves battery and power terminals; titanium Gr5 is used for lightweight high-strength fasteners. Among plastics, POM is stable for clips and gears, PA66 resists heat under the hood, and PC is used for clear covers. Each choice balances weight, cost, temperature and chemical exposure.
First-article inspection reports document all drawing dimensions, and critical features are checked on every part before shipment. Material certificates are available for metals, and plastic grades can be supplied with the resin maker's data sheet. Typical uses include sensor mounts, EV charging and battery terminals, transmission bushings, fuel system fittings, interior trim prototypes and test-rig fixtures.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can you machine both metal and plastic parts for the same project?
Yes. We regularly machine aluminum, steel, copper and engineering plastic parts in one order, so an assembly can be prototyped from a single supplier. Each material gets its own tooling and fixturing approach, and all parts are inspected to the same drawing standards.
Which plastic is best for under-hood automotive prototypes?
PA66 nylon, often glass-filled, handles under-hood temperatures and oil exposure well. PPS and PEEK resist higher temperatures but cost more. POM is excellent for clips and gears in cooler areas. We can machine prototypes in the same grade planned for molding.
How do I get a quote for cnc milled and turned automotive metal and plastic parts?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
