CNC Milled Brass Warrior Ornament Sculpture
This is a custom metal art service that CNC mills detailed sculptures, such as warrior figures, busts and desk ornaments, from solid brass, with aluminum also available. Freeform surfaces are machined on 5-axis equipment directly from your 3D model, then hand finished, polished or patinated. Manufacturing
How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for cnc milled brass warrior ornament sculpture.
Sculptural parts are machined with 3D surfacing toolpaths: roughing removes bulk material, then progressively smaller ball-nose cutters trace the surface with fine stepovers to bring out armor, faces and textures. 5-axis machining tilts the tool to reach undercuts and both sides of the figure in few setups. Very fine details are engraved with micro tools. Support tabs are removed and blended by hand.
Brass gives weight, a warm gold color and crisp detail; it can be mirror polished, brushed, or chemically patinated to antique bronze or dark tones and sealed with lacquer. Aluminum is lighter and less expensive, and anodizing adds color. Mixed-metal pieces, such as aluminum bases with brass figures, are possible. Laser engraving adds edition numbers or signatures.
Each piece is compared with the 3D model and reference renders, then inspected for surface marks, finish consistency and detail sharpness before packing in protective foam. Editions are kept consistent by reusing the same programs and finishing steps. Typical uses include collectible figurines, corporate awards, game merchandise, desk sculptures and commemorative gifts.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can you machine a sculpture from my 3D sculpting file?
Yes. STL meshes from sculpting software can be machined, though very fine mesh detail and deep undercuts may need adjustment. We review the model, suggest changes for machinability, and can split the figure into assembled parts where a single block is not practical.
Is machined brass better than cast brass for sculptures?
Machining reproduces digital detail precisely and needs no molds, which suits one-offs and small editions. Casting is cheaper for larger editions and can produce deeper undercuts, but needs patterns and cleanup. We can advise based on edition size.
