Custom Bent and Laser-Cut Sheet Metal Products
This service produces custom sheet metal products such as covers, chassis, brackets, panels and trays. Parts are laser cut from steel, stainless steel or aluminum sheet, bent on CNC press brakes, then welded, inserted with hardware and finished. CNC machining adds tight-tolerance features. It suits equipment makers who need fabricated parts from prototypes to repeat production.

How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for custom bent and laser-cut sheet metal products.
The process usually runs in four steps: flat pattern unfolding from your 3D model, laser cutting, CNC press brake bending and assembly work such as welding, PEM-style hardware insertion or spot fastening. Where a feature needs better accuracy than bending can give, such as a bearing bore or a precision mounting face, we machine it after forming, so the final dimensions are not affected by bend variation.
Cold-rolled steel such as Q235 is economical and painted or powder coated. 304 stainless resists corrosion without coating and can be brushed to a uniform grain. 5052 aluminum is the go-to grade for bent parts because it forms well; 6061 offers more strength but cracks on tight bends. Typical inside bend radius is about equal to the material thickness.
Flat patterns are checked before cutting, and the first article is measured for bend angles, flange lengths and hole positions. Welds are visually inspected, and pressed-in hardware is checked for seating and thread fit against the drawing requirements. Typical products include electrical cabinets, equipment covers, chassis frames, mounting brackets, cable trays and control panel enclosures.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What files do you need for a sheet metal quote?
A 3D model in STEP or IGES is best because we can unfold it directly. A 2D DXF or DWG flat pattern with bend lines also works, plus a PDF drawing showing thickness, material, finish and critical dimensions. Note any hardware inserts and their part numbers.
Which aluminum grade is best for bent sheet metal parts?
5052-H32 is usually best because it bends tightly without cracking and has good corrosion resistance. 6061-T6 is stronger but needs bend radii of about 1.5–2 times the thickness or more to avoid cracking. We can suggest radii during design review.
How do I get a quote for custom bent and laser-cut sheet metal products?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
