PVD Coated Brass CNC Turned Hardware Trim

These are decorative brass hardware parts, such as handle rosettes, trim rings, escutcheons, knobs and cabinet fittings, CNC turned and milled, then polished and PVD coated. Fits are held down to ±0.01 mm. PVD gives durable gold, black, gunmetal and bronze tones. They are for furniture, faucet, door-hardware and interior brands seeking premium metal trim that keeps its finish.

Manufacturing

How we make this part

Process, material options and inspection for pvd coated brass cnc turned hardware trim.

Brass trim is turned from bar on CNC lathes, with faces and edges finished in light passes so polishing removes only a little material. Milling adds screw holes, flats and logo recesses. Polishing is staged from cutting compounds to final buffing, because PVD reproduces the surface beneath it exactly. Parts are ultrasonically cleaned before coating so oils and polishing residue do not cause adhesion failures.

Brass is chosen for its weight, machinability and solid feel. For PVD, brass usually receives a nickel or nickel-chrome underlayer to seal the surface and provide a stable base. PVD then adds a thin, hard color film that resists abrasion and fading far better than lacquer. Brushed, satin and mirror bases each give a different look under the same PVD color.

Dimensions are checked against the drawing, with 100% inspection of critical fits. Coated parts are inspected for color consistency against a reference sample, coverage and surface defects, and packed individually. Typical uses include door-handle roses, faucet trim rings, cabinet knobs, lighting trim, bathroom accessories and furniture fittings, in sample sets or production lots.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why is brass nickel plated before PVD?

Brass contains zinc, which can outgas in the PVD chamber and weaken adhesion. A nickel or nickel-chrome underlayer seals the surface, adds hardness and provides a stable base. The result is a PVD finish with better adhesion and more consistent color.

Is PVD better than lacquer on brass hardware?

For parts that are handled often, yes. PVD is far harder than lacquer and resists scratching, abrasion and fading. Lacquer is cheaper and preserves the natural brass look but wears off over time on handles and knobs.

How do I get a quote for pvd coated brass cnc turned hardware trim?

Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
