Sheet Metal and CNC Machined Stainless Motorcycle Parts
These are motorcycle parts that combine sheet metal fabrication with CNC machining: skid plates, heat shields, chain guards, number-plate holders and luggage rack brackets. Sheet blanks are laser cut and bent from stainless steel or aluminum, then machined or welded with threaded bosses and mounts. They suit aftermarket brands that need sturdy parts without the cost of fully machined billet.

How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for sheet metal and cnc machined stainless motorcycle parts.
Sheet metal is the efficient route for parts with large flat or folded areas. We laser cut blanks from 1.5–4 mm sheet, bend them on press brakes, and add features that need precision—bushing bores, tapped bosses, slotted mounts—by CNC machining or by welding in turned inserts. This hybrid process keeps weight and cost down while maintaining accurate mounting points.
304 stainless is durable and works well for heat shields and exhaust-side brackets, accepting brushed or polished finishes. 5052 aluminum bends without cracking and is the common choice for skid plates and fairing brackets; 6061 is stronger but needs larger bend radii. Steel parts can be powder coated, while aluminum is anodized or powder coated. Welds can be ground and blended for a clean look.
Bend angles, hole positions and flatness are checked against the drawing, and threaded features are verified with gauges. The first article is test-fitted to supplied mating hardware when possible. Critical dimensions are inspected before shipment. Typical applications include engine skid plates, exhaust heat shields, chain guards, tail-tidy kits and pannier rack mounting brackets.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is sheet metal or billet better for a motorcycle skid plate?
Sheet metal is usually better. A bent 4 mm 5052 aluminum or stainless plate is light, absorbs impacts and costs much less than a machined billet part. Billet makes sense only when the plate needs complex 3D shapes, integrated mounts or a specific show-bike appearance.
Can you weld machined mounts onto sheet metal brackets?
Yes. We weld turned bushings, nuts or machined bosses onto laser-cut sheet parts, then re-machine critical bores after welding if alignment is tight. Stainless parts can be passivated after welding to restore corrosion resistance in the heat-affected zone.
How do I get a quote for sheet metal and cnc machined stainless motorcycle parts?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
