CNC Turned Stainless Steel Bushings and Hex Nuts
These are stainless steel bushings, sleeves, spacers and custom hex nuts turned on CNC lathes from 303, 304 or 316 bar. Bores are reamed or bored for accurate fits, and nut threads are tapped or single-point cut. They suit machinery, automotive and equipment buyers who need stainless turned parts with special dimensions that standard catalog bushings and nuts do not offer.

How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for cnc turned stainless steel bushings and hex nuts.
Hex nuts are turned from hex bar so the flats are already formed, then drilled, chamfered on both faces and threaded. Bushings are turned from round bar, with the bore and outside diameter finished in one setup to keep them concentric. Flanged bushings, slotted nuts and nuts with nylon insert grooves are produced in the same way.
303 stainless is free machining and keeps costs low for large batches of nuts. 304 is the general-purpose grade, 316 adds pitting resistance in salt or chemical exposure. Stainless bushings are not ideal bearing surfaces against stainless shafts because of galling; bronze or POM liners work better there. Passivation is standard after machining.
Threads are checked with go/no-go gauges, bores with plug or bore gauges, and critical dimensions are 100% inspected before packing. Typical applications include spacer bushings in frames, locating sleeves, flanged bushings for pivots, thin jam nuts, castle nuts and fine-pitch nuts for adjusters in machinery, marine fittings and vehicle assemblies.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can stainless steel bushings run against stainless shafts?
It is not recommended for sliding or rotating loads. Stainless against stainless tends to gall and seize. For pivots, use a bronze or POM bushing, a hardened shaft, or a lubricated design. Stainless bushings work well as fixed spacers, sleeves and locating parts where there is no relative motion.
Do you make nonstandard hex nut sizes?
Yes. We turn nuts with special thread pitches, heights, across-flat sizes and features such as flanges, slots or locking grooves. Hex stock is available in common sizes, and other sizes can be milled from round bar. Tell us the thread, size and quantity.
How do I get a quote for cnc turned stainless steel bushings and hex nuts?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
