5-Axis CNC Machined Brass Valve Cores and Spools
These are brass valve cores, spools, rotors and similar flow-control parts made by CNC turning followed by 5-axis milling of ports, slots and angled holes. Free-cutting brass keeps cycle times short, and sealing diameters are held to ±0.05 mm or tighter where specified. They suit valve, faucet, gas-appliance and pneumatic manufacturers needing precise brass internals.

How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for 5-axis cnc machined brass valve cores and spools.
The round body is turned first, with sealing lands, grooves and threads cut while the part is still in the lathe. It then moves to a 5-axis machine where cross ports, metering slots and angled passages are milled relative to the turned datum. For simpler parts, a turn-mill lathe with Y-axis finishes everything in one cycle. Burrs at port edges are removed carefully because they affect flow and seal life.
Brass C36000 and H59 are the usual grades: they machine extremely well and resist water and gas corrosion. Where lead content is restricted, such as drinking-water parts, lead-free or low-lead brass grades can be used at a higher machining cost. Spools can be nickel or chrome plated for wear resistance and appearance; sealing surfaces are often left bare and fine-turned for smoothness.
Sealing diameters are checked with micrometers and air gauges, port positions on CMM, and surface roughness on sealing lands. Parts are 100% inspected on critical dimensions, washed and packed to avoid damage to sealing edges. Typical uses include ball valve stems, cartridge spools, gas valve cores, faucet diverters and pneumatic directional-valve spools.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can you machine valve parts in lead-free brass?
Yes. Lead-free and low-lead brass grades are available for drinking-water and regulated applications. They machine more slowly than leaded C36000, which can raise cost slightly, but the tolerances and finishes are otherwise the same. Specify the grade or standard on your drawing.
Why use 5-axis milling on a turned brass part?
Valve spools and cores often need ports or slots at angles to the axis or at precise clock positions. Milling them on a 5-axis machine from the turned datum keeps those features accurately positioned without custom fixtures, which matters for flow and sealing.
How do I get a quote for 5-axis cnc machined brass valve cores and spools?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
