CNC Turned Anodized Aluminum Bicycle Components

These are custom bicycle components, such as hub shells, headset caps, axle adapters, crank spacers, bottle-cage bosses and derailleur hangers, CNC turned and milled from 6061 or 7075 aluminum and anodized. Tolerance is ±0.05 mm, with bearing seats tighter. They are for bike brands, frame builders and aftermarket parts makers who want light, colorful parts in small batches.

Manufacturing

How we make this part

Process, material options and inspection for cnc turned anodized aluminum bicycle components.

Round parts such as hub shells and spacers are turned with bearing seats and faces cut in one chucking for concentricity. Flanges, spoke holes, logo recesses and lightening pockets are milled with live tooling or on a separate machining center. Derailleur hangers and adapters are milled from plate. Knurling or textured grip areas can be added where riders touch the part.

6061-T6 is tough and economical, good for spacers, caps and hangers, which are designed to bend before the frame does. 7075-T6 is stronger and suits highly loaded hubs and axle parts. Anodizing in black, red, blue, gold, purple and other colors is the standard finish; laser engraving adds logos and torque values. Steel or titanium hardware can be paired for threads that see repeated torque.

Bearing seats are checked with bore gauges, threads with gauges, and colors compared batch to batch against retained samples. Every critical dimension is inspected 100% before shipping. Typical uses include headset top caps, hub end caps, thru-axle adapters, chainring spacers, derailleur hangers and e-bike motor brackets. Batch sizes can be split by color.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Should derailleur hangers be 6061 or 7075?

Most hangers use 6061 or similar alloys because they are designed to bend in a crash and protect the frame and derailleur. 7075 is stiffer and stronger but may snap rather than bend. Follow the frame maker's design intent; we machine either alloy.

Can you anodize bike parts to match another brand's color?

We can match to a physical sample or color reference within the limits of anodizing dyes. Different alloys and surface textures shift the shade, so we produce color samples on your part material for approval before production.
