CNC Turned Anodized Aluminum Spacers and Collars
These are custom spacers, shaft collars, thick washers and sleeves turned from 6061 aluminum on CNC lathes and anodized in black or custom colors. Bores and faces are held down to ±0.01 mm, giving accurate stack heights and true running. They suit machine, bicycle, drone and robotics builders who need non-standard sizes or color-coded spacers in any quantity.

Manufacturing
How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for cnc turned anodized aluminum spacers and collars.
Spacers look simple, but face parallelism and bore concentricity decide how well an assembly lines up. We turn the bore, outside diameter and both faces in a single chucking where possible, then cut off and finish the back face on a second spindle or in soft jaws. Clamping collars get their split and screw hole from live tooling. Chamfers on both edges help assembly.
6061-T6 aluminum is light and economical, and Type II anodizing provides color coding and corrosion protection; it adds a few microns, so bore sizes account for it. 7075 suits high-load collars. For electrical isolation, anodizing is an insulator, although thin coatings should not be relied on for high voltages. Powder coating is generally avoided on precise spacers because its thickness varies more.
Length and face parallelism are checked with micrometers and height gauges, bore sizes with pin gauges, and color against approved samples. Every critical dimension is 100% inspected before shipment. Typical applications include precision bearing spacers, bicycle headset spacers, drone motor spacers, rail carriage shims and clamping shaft collars for automation lines.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How accurate can spacer length be held?
Standard spacer length tolerance is ±0.05 mm, and critical spacers can be held down to ±0.01 mm by finishing both faces carefully and measuring with micrometers. Remember that anodizing adds a few microns to each face, which we account for on tight stacks.
Can I order spacers in several colors in one batch?
Yes. Spacers of the same design can be split across anodize colors within one order, which helps with identification on assembly lines. Each color is run as a separate anodizing batch, and we label them accordingly.
How do I get a quote for cnc turned anodized aluminum spacers and collars?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
